Grey Scale

Image

the man on the corner is talking to himself

after debate he briefly pauses and smiles

our eyes meet but he does not see me

i am but a passing shadow

the corners of my mouth are engraved by a frown that seldom leaves

each breath is received without acknowledgment or rejoice

they are merely an assumed continuance in a seemingly mundane existence

marching on if only because the expectation is such

Image

the fractured mirrors of the minds reflection

are repositioned with each forward step

this constant change shapes the present

but is also distorted by the past

what is reflected is then projected

coloring each days existence

some days my world is colored gray

maybe the man on the corner sees the colors I fail to see
